Heligan Butterfly Small Jute Bag
Heligan Butterfly Small Jute Bag
This Butterfly Jute Bag celebrates the unsung hero of the pollinators. Butterflies can be seen around our expansive estate, especially when our vibrant wildflower meadow is in full bloom.
Butterflies are also wonderful symbols of transformation and regeneration which are akin to our story here at Heligan. From the rediscovery and restoration of Victorian productive and ornamental gardens in the 1990s, to our mission today of restoring lost connections with nature, ourselves and each other.
Our Heligan Jute Bags are made with sustainability in mind. From field to factory, Cornish based company, Go Jute, give meticulous attention to every aspect of the production process. Using sustainable farming practices on their jute farm in India, and then shipping it to Europe with complete carbon neutrality before printing takes place in the UK.
What is Jute?
Well known for its strength and durability, jute is a biodegradable natural material that is made by spinning long soft vegetable fibres into strong coarse threads. Also known as burlap, jute bags are tightly woven and sewn to reinforce their structure which allows them to be free standing. The printing process involves the popular technique known as screen printing where water-based dyes are pressed onto each bag.
