A beautiful gift for garden romantics everywhere, our handpicked selection of heirloom variety sweet pea seeds bring the promise of a season of colour, charm and fragrance. 

This unique range of Old-Fashioned Sweet Peas has been curated by our Head Gardener in collaboration with specialist grower Philip Johnson, of Johnson's Sweet Peas. Reflecting the historic blooms and highly scented varieties found in The Flower Garden at Heligan.

Contents: 

America
Raised by Morse, USA and released in 1896. An unusual variety, with red flaked markings on a white ground. Highly scented, it makes a good contrast to other Old Fashioned Sweet Peas.

Black Knight
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1898. A multitude of sweetly scented flowers. Bold, upright, bronzy chocolate or perhaps a shiny maroon.

Countess Cadogan 
These heirloom Sweet Pea seeds produce oodles of beautiful violet/ blue bicoloured flowers. They are strongly scented and vigorous for its type. This unique heirloom variety was first raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1899.


King Edward VII
This heirloom variety has deservedly stood the test of time. Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1903, it bears appealing deep red blooms on strong stems, for its type. For a wonderous combination, try combining with pink and cream shades.

Lady Grisel Hamilton
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1898, this stunning heirloom variety produces a profusion of lavender toned flowers with a sweet scent. Each stem usually holds three, sometimes four blooms per stem.

Lord Nelson
Floriferous with sumptuous, deep blue flowers and a strong perfume. This stunning variety was raised by House & Son and released in 1907.


Painted Lady
First recorded in 1752. A very Sweetly scented pink and white bicolour. Acknowledged as the first Sweet Pea ‘sport’, a wonderful blast from the past.


Prima Donna
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1896, this heritage variety produce lovely pale, soft pink, sweetly scented flowers. A classic Old-Fashioned Sweet Pea. It is from this variety that the first waved Sweet Pea (Countess Spencer) arose in 1900.


Prince Edward of York
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1897, this heirloom variety produces a bright, eye-catching ‘Pea. With bright rosy salmon standard and pale red wings, this is truly a captivating combination of colours.

Unique
Raised by Stark & Son and released in 1905. Delicate pale blue flake on a white ground and strongly scented. Blends well with other pastel colours.


Senator
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1891. An attractive flaked heirloom sweet pea in two tone red and purple. A vigorous grower with four flowers on a stem.

 
Miss Willmott
Raised by Henry Eckford and released in 1901. Named in honour of English horticulturalist and garden writer Miss Ellen Willmott. Abundance of attractive pal orange and salmon pink bicoloured flowers with a lovely scent.
